Everyone that I meet wants to write a book. Seriously! I hear it all the time. I’ve always wanted to write a book. I’m going to write a book one day. What should I do to to get started??? My advice is always: Write, DUH!!!! Beyond fear, I think the #1 problem for writers is time. Especially, if you have a 9-5. It’s like when do you find the time to sit down and write. And if you are anything like me, the problem is time management. I won’t talk about my issues with procrastination or addiction to social networking in this post.
Well, I’ve found a great video for the aspiring writer. The author of this video, Yuvi Zalkow, has put together a video on how to write a novel, when you’re actually too busy to write a novel. He introduces a bunch of cool apps that you can download on your mobile phone that will allow you to write you book anytime, anywhere. And then he mentions other programs for your computer.
One of the programs that he mentions is Scrievner, which I’ve used in the past. It is a great tool for organizing and writing. I also like Write or Die. It’s a hardcore program that forces you to write. The program locks you out of your desktop while you write, so you won’t be tempted to check your facebook page.
Check the video out below… GOOD STUFF!!!
I really needed this at this moment. As you well know, I am one of your friends who wants to write a book but is inundated with work and two children (a toddler and a teenager no less). This will assist me in focusing over the next few months! Thanks Sis!
Faye, You are much further than you think. You have about 60% of your project done. You just have to make it to the finish line. Try Write or Die. I really like it.
I really needed this. Thank u. I also need to talk with my fairy God-writing momma before the end of the wknd. 🙂
I love that, “fairy God-writing momma”. I’m stealing it:). Glad it was helpful!
