On Inspiration…Or how to use your golden voice

We’ve all heard about signs and wonders but this is the simply a story of a wonderful sign that changed a man’s life. Ted Williams went from homeless to famous in a matter of weeks. All it took was a sign advertising his “golden voice” and a videographer from a local television station. The video of Ted’s smooth “made-for-tv” voice went viral and the job offers started coming in. Not only can Ted add MSNBC and the Cleveland Cavaliers to his resume now, but he has also been offered a place to live.

This is quite a remarkable story. I think we all take homeless people for granted. We forget that many of them were like us once upon time, and unfortunate circumstances are the reasons that are now sleeping on the streets begging for change.

Ted’s story teaches us so much. One, Ted had the confidence to believe in himself. He knew he had a gift and he took a huge risk and marketed it to his audience, who happened to be random passerby’s. We never know what our blessings will look like or who will be a blessing to us. And I’m sure the videographer just assumed that he was covering a random story, but he changed a man’s life in the most amazing way. It kind of reminds me of “The Pursuit of Happiness”.

I think it’s time to start recognizing our gifts and sharing them with the world before it’s too late.

If this video doesn’t bring you to tears, I don’t know what will. This is truly a story of inspiration. We must all pray that Ted is able to balance his new life and won’t end up abusing substances in the future.

What is oh so interesting about his story is that he educated, well-mannered, and happen to be homeless for a decade. Definitely makes you realize how grateful we all need to be for the opportunities we are given. No matter how small or big.

    Absolutely! It’s inspirational, but it’s also a wake-up call.
